From Amber

It’s a five-day casual shadow-walk to Shindlar from Amber.

Description

This shadow is a late medieval/early renaissance realm. There are various pantheons of gods, at least 5 different races of humans, and a large and varied landscape.

The empire central to the shadow is Quoalatria, and is a close reflection of Amber. Deep within the empire is a small lordship called Kiltans, named for the family that has ruled it for centuries. This was where Hargomme was found and raised, the place he always thinks of has his birthplace, even though he knows nothing of his birth.

Other human races include Bargallians (known for their ale) and Tillians (known for their reserved and secretive society).

Humans are the only sentient races in this shadow.

Physical Abnormalities

The sun glows a bright shade of red in this shadow, causing a great deal of difference in perception of color. The clouds are generally orange, with darker, redder clouds indicating that they are heavier with rain. The sky is a light-red color when it is clear.

The flowers are generally shades of yellows, greens, and blacks and the leaves of plants are almost always a shade of iridescent blue. (On a bright, sunny day, people from other shadows would find such intriguing color combinations a wonderful spectacle, but those of this world find it rather normal…)

Stone is usually lighter in color than the “real” world, with white being common and darker colors being very uncommon and highly sought after.

There are no eggs on this shadow – birds give birth to small, fragile young that must be protected from predators and the elements. Birds of Shindlar are thus some of the most powerful and protective non-predators imaginable.

Deserts are virtually unknown in Quoalatrian society.
